Driving to Bulgaria - Hungary/Romania Route

The route through Austria, Hungary and Romania is less hassle as far as customs, though there are rare occasions that Romanian Customs and Police will target foreign vehicles in an attempt to acquire a cash fine. Make sure you have all your documents and keep to the speed limits then they have no reason to cause you problems. 
This route is a little longer and there are currently some sections that can are busy with road works, especially Romania. 
It's pretty much straightforward Highway Driving all the way to Romania.The ring roads at Vienna and Budapest can be busy at peak times. 
The roads in Romania are similar to Bulgaria but if you’re not in a rush and you have an up to date map to back up your SatNav then this is probably the best route to take if you’re traveling to the North of Bulgaria.
