OK another little how to do it post.

This does not just apply to In Bulgaria but other forums too.

The problem: when posting long urls in a forum message the url may break the layout of the site or part of the message may disappear.

How to post long urls correctly:

First off we will create the text that will be the link.
Click the url button. This will create the BBcode tag [ url ]
After this tag put in some test that describes the link. For example "Link to Google Map"
After the link text close the bbcode tag by clicking the url button again. So we end up with something that looks like the following:
Code:
[url]Link to Google Map[/url]

Now we just have to insert the actual url and we are done.
So look at the opening bbcode url tag and we will edit it by inserting our url. After the text url add an = sign then your link.
Code:
Before:[url]
After:[url=http://www.this-is-the-link-to-my-map.com]
And the whole thing combined:[url=http://www.this-is-the-link-to-my-map.com]Link to Google Map[/url]

I hope that helps some people out.

Regards Asimov

Well, yes. All that displays is the text between ] and [ as opposed to the actual url. It is what is displayed, not the link per se, that is the problem.

Ah, illumination dawns. Thank you. BTW, I found a spellchecker once but it seems to have vanished now. My fault, I'm sure, but where is it?

I think there was another site that had spell checking for its posts...

If you use firefox as your browser then that has build in spell checking ....

I have read this thread three times and I still dont know what it is all about. I thought url thingy was something to do to put a website address in your post and there was a way to do it without putting whole website address in.

Forget, I'm stupid, my heads buzzing. I need a Rakia badly, the shakes are coming back. Smile

when you press URL red button you get:

{url}

if you then after the {url} you tupr your description and press the red URL button again you will have

{url} example bla bla {/URL}

go to the first {url} anf change it to {url= then paste your long url in this bit }

that should do it - ignore the fact my brackets are wiggly if id have used square brackets it would have activated the URL insert function.

You should end up with:

{url= paste your long URL in this bit } example bla bla {/URL}

When you press "post reply" (not i.e. not using the quick reply box but pres the post reply button) you will get a row of red buttons above the box you type in.

EDIT - actually its above the quick reply box as well
