Are Prity products any good? From pictures they look a bit "tinny"?

I'd like to get the equivalent of an AGA / Rayburn that will run radiators as well as being a solid fuel cooker.

Any recommendations?

Thanks, Ivan

Can't offer any recommendations on what you asking for but just to say you should start a new topic about this as people might miss it because this was only for someone who had something to sell.

Horses for courses! They're quite inexpensive but they're not on a par with Aga or Rayburn. Frankly, I'd skip the solid fuel cooking aspect, unless you're thinking of it just as a stop-gap for occasional use. I have a large (in fact seriously OVER-large) Prity in my workshop and it gets stupidly hot in there on the very few occasions I've run it for heating.

We had a large oil-fired central heating system, with a Swedish boiler etc, in our house and that was one of the first things we ripped out. Air-con is by far the best/cheapest option for heating (and cooling, of course) with wood-burners on each floor just as a back-up.

Central heating is problematic, in terms of needing a UPS in case of power failures (and you're stuffed if it lasts more than a pretty short time anyway), plus the hassle of buying wood and storing it. Pellets are probably the best bet if you're determined to make life harder for yourself by skipping the air-con route but you still need to source decent ones and store them properly.

You'll also find that your insurance company will insist on your chimney being professionally swept (you'd be wise to do that anyway) and they want a kosher certificate for it or you can kiss your fire insurance goodbye.

We did a LOT of research on this topic and air-con with wood burner back-up is definitely the way to go. I'd also say that an LPG cooker (assuming you don't have mains gas) is a useful bit of kit to have, although we'd use a gas BBQ with side-burners and/or one of our wood/charcoal BBQs if we were ever to get really desperate (hasn't happened yet but you never know.... Wink ).
