As Prost accused him for double standards, looks am not the only one not agreeing the way Charlie has been managing the race in Mexico. His appearance at the driver's press conference in Brazil has been both extraordinary and without precedence as well. Was so pathetic for him stuttering that 'no Lewis did not get an advantage, for he coasted 80%' while Lewis was seen before our naked eyes having gained about a mile or two by the exit of turn 3. Would not criticize Charlie for failing to penalize Lewis, but for not having him placed under investigation before the safety car on lap one. Then how could Charlie know Lewis had coasted without any hard evidence (eg telemetry) coming from his team, given such information is provided on a need to know basis while sans an investigation apparently there was not any such need? Could Charlie have read Merc's telemetry using some kind telepathy of his own? Wow, great mental powers!

Point is Charlie's little problems were not limited to Lewis, as he also ignored the Rosberg/Verstappen incident immediately afterwards. Shouldn't our Dutch wunder kid been punished for pushing Rosberg off track? What if Rosberg -a title contender- had to retire following Verstappen's joyful kiss of love on his car? Could this alone cost him the championship? And when will Verstappen be disciplined at last? Which planet was Charlie living at the time of the incident after all?

Ironically Charlie's priorities seemed to be with the Sauber/Manor incident, that regarded a couple of backmarkers, while he closed both his eyes on what was taking place at the front. However in the F1 business, it is the front that really matters, isn't it?

On lap 68 we had the Verstappen/Vettel incident. It took a very reluctant Charlie two rather long laps and a lot of pressure from Arivabene until on lap 70 at last Verstappen was placed 'under investigation – but even then only to be reviewed after the race', all this for something it took Verstappen's own engineer only a couple of turns to say 'give him position'. During those two laps and with failing tyres, Verstappen was deliberatetly brake testing Vettel, well is this legit?, eventually leading to the Vettel/Ricciardo incident later on the same lap. With the race having ended on lap 71, we were provided with the colourful Vettel 'tell Charlie to f??? off' outburst, before only seconds later it was announced Vettel was under investigation himself for changing direction under braking, although it is generally accepted he left Ricciardo ample space at the corner. What was his reason to change course then? Anyway for once Charlie was impressively swift this time.

Looks what started as an F1 season was ended as a bad taste joke.

For me I am happy Rosberg won - even though I have to admit Hamilton is the faster driver - but he is a dickhead...
Hoping next year will bring more teams into the mix... we wait and see.. Confused

What if Merc would leave too? Having trashed competition apparently they do not have much left to prove, not to mention they are not reputed as sports cars manufacturers, while their title sponsor may be facing problems from the current oil prices.

Brawn would buy them back for the sum of one pound. Laughing

Perhaps Rosberg is smart, he will be one of only a few to walk away at the top of the game.

Looks you are very right Cliff.

Personally I would favour a young talent such as Wehrleien as Walkage wrote, yet it is my understanding any combination of Lewis with the likes of Fernando or 'mad' Max Verstappen would bring competition to a new level. Given there is not much of it left among manufacturers perhaps this could counter-balance its absence.

Problem is these chaps could end killing each other, not to mention they could give Toto a very-very hard time. Laughing

From what I've seen so far, Merc and Ferrari seem to be at the top, the rest could end up anywhere and Mclaren are back to the start - again! We may have a new Maldonado in the shape of Stroll, judging by him consistently running out of talent and heading for the scene of the accident.

Could not have said it better Rockmusician, this is exactly what we know so far. As usual we will not have the complete picture until at least the first couple of races.

The only thing I would like to add is that DRS overtaking is reportedly more difficult by virtue of the turbulent air behind the car ahead. And that although we were promised to reduce the importance of aerodynamics, and hence the costs, which would improve competition from the lesser teams, still it seems the new regulations have risen their significance even further.

It is a joy being rich.

Sadly, John Surtees one of the greats, has just passed away. More of him there.

Was pretty exciting to see a good race at Silverstone yesterday. Was so boring watching Merc taking victory after victory after victory much like I was tired when Pink Cow (as villyman -oh where are you mate- used to say) and Ferrari did in the past decade. F1 is all about competition and this is what makes it worth seeing.

Otherwise I ‘d be watching ballet, which by the way am fond of as well. Rolling Eyes

cheers everyone

Well you can't call Monza boring. Ferrari had the fastest cars but Hamilton has proved himself to be the better driver again in this race. Vettel is making excuses about him not being left enough room, but he could have reduced speed and taken the fight elsewhere with his faster car. So either his judgement is faulty (the race marshals said it was a racing incident and took no further action) or maybe he was hoping he would damage Hamilton rather than himself and 'ran over his own foot'! Not a Vettel fan, but IMHO there is no way 'he was hoping he would damage Hamilton rather than himself'. This he could do, had it been him leading the championship rather than Hamy, thus securing remaining in leadership after the race. Me thinks the opposite is more probable, had it been so must have been some quick thinking for Lewis. Point is Monza was a good race with Lewis showing class and Verstappen driving recklessly, as he does usually. Pity for this boy has a promising speed but also carries a few bad genes. Perhaps -unlike his father- some day he matures.

As a final word it could well be farewell for Kimi's career.

Cast your mind back to last year I think it was. In his frustration, Vettel DID deliberately hit Hamilton's car with his!
