Anybody having a problem with these little pests? I use powders and sprays on them but they seem to reappear the next day and whilst I've normally nothing against them, they keep eating my lawn and its getting annoying now. The lack of rain is turning my garden into a dust bowl, exacerbated by the little fellows taking the green bits....

Any suggestions or strategies?

We get the little blighters figuring that they should share the house with us every year.... Evil or Very Mad

I've tried everything but they're persistent: I just keep using Raid and thumping then until they get bored with their Colonial Expansion - it works in the end, or at least they decide to call it a draw until next year.

Don't bother buying those sprays that claim to leave a barrier for weeks, they're a waste of time Sad

Hmmmm, I was hoping you might have the address of someone who builds flame throwers..... Very Happy . I'm continually amazed at how many we kill and yet they are back again the next morning.

Maybe instead of a dachshund I should have a ant eater? They'd not go hungry! I wonder if they do rescue ant eaters? Cheap to run and highly satisfying.

Part if the problem I think is that after our plot its just grazing land and wilderness. I might clear our land but the immigrant ants move in overnight Rolling Eyes I might yet have to settle for a moving lawn, but I'm not ready to quit yet.

Incidentally I agree with you about the sprays but HI had bought some on a spending whim so I'm using them. Momentary pleasure but no persistence, so they won't be replaced.

I,ve never seen as many ants as this year.......both in the garden, on the patio and now coming into the house. But if they keep coming to the house I,ll keep spraying them. Was working at guttering a few days ago and there are armies of them heading under the roof tiles.......if I,m not on here in rhe future it,s because the roof has fallen in on me. Smile

Or you're running down the road after the roof......

I've been killing thousands with ant powder, but by next morning the ant army is back and even bigger. I can see the little blighters literally carrying my lawn away!!!!!

Perhaps a tap-dancing elephant would do the trick if you can find the main nest? Wink
