Seedy......I was joking.......though if I did happen put a hole in a burglers chest I,d not be too concerned with legal ramifications.......said burgler would be helping compost the forest floor. Sad Re the Hatsan........I have one and it,s ok. The OP was about hunting with a crossbow and I now know that it,s not legal.

The difference, Mr Wolf, is that no-one will complain when your Lada back-fires in the main street but a clapped-out Mossberg going off outside the village магазин is a fish of a rather different hue. Wink

For some strange(?) reason people will complain a lot less about someone wandering with an air rifle than the same bod with a shotgun - mainly due to the common misconception about airguns being "toys". I have had a few "heroes" scoffingly suggesting that their Puffa jackets are more than a match for my Sam-Yang 9mm, for example; for some reason they reconsider their offer of letting me take a shot at them when I show them what it does to 3x3/4" plywood sheets (Hint: do NOT stand behind them!)

While I think about it, if you have the dosh then the Hatsan Carnivore 135 (in .30" calibre - or 7.62mm to you military-types Wink ) is a very serious break-barrel airgun; not as powerful an equivalent-calibre PCP but it will nonetheless kill you with no problems, even without a puff or two of silicone spray on the pellet to diesel it (and knacker your gun if you get carried away)....

I assumed that you were indeed joking, Mr T - but you'd be surprised at how many gung-ho gobshites you meet, most of them without a clue about weapons but with considerably more testosterone than brainpower. Very Happy

It's an interesting topic and speculating on what one might do in extremis is always both fun and useful, while the legal implications really do make it necessary to have some sort of pre-considered strategy ready to act on. Making it up as you go along isn't a good idea in such a situation, even if a bad trial is better than a good funeral.... Wink
