Rakiya and banitsa? Shocked We Sofia Sophisticates would never dream of allowing anything other than shopska salata to accompany our rakiya - even the impecunious have to maintain some standards.... Wink

MW said "If I was a UK resident, I might well have voted BREXIT, but being here in Bulgaria, I see and reap the benefits of EU investment into Bulgaria even though huge sums of money has been trousered by corrupt officials."

Have you considered the effect on EU investment into BG, after the UK withdraws its 10 or 12 billion a year from the budget ? Certainly, Germany will not make up the difference (although they easily could) and therefore there will be a "redistribution", no doubt.

Like BREXIT itself, it is all beyond my control, what will be, will be. Wink

Today's part of the negotiations are rumoured to centre on the UK pushing the EU hard to justify its stance on the proposed Divorce Bill. If true, it's interesting territory as the Divorce Bill has a limited legal foundation (at least according to the UK's Attorney General) and the wider political and economic impacts of paying (or rather, not paying elements of a bill) maybe moot, however the EU should be firmly pressed on their legal justification, to see if they flinch first. No bill would of course mean a serious revision of the EU budget and investment in younger EU states.

My, my, my ... May has been left red-faced after some of Britain’s largest companies refused to sign a letter offering public support to the Government’s approach to Brexit, according to reports.
http://tinyurl.com/y7c6zcss

FTSE-100 company boardrooms have been asked by No 10 to praise Downing Street's plans for a transition period with the EU. Unfortunately, this 'leak' comes only a day after the Home Office draft notice about the future rights of EU workers in UK post Brexit, fell inconveniently into the public domain! Of course that could have been a double bluff, the 'leaky draft' bit I mean; kite flying perhaps amidst the difficult negotiations!

While the EU is being offered 20BEuro for UK's exit we may note that the Ottoman Empire demanded 125MFrancs from Bulgaria for her exit 109 years ago. Blackmail is rife.
