I either didn't express myself very well, Walkage, or you are a prejudiced person, convinced I am a rich spendthrift. I'm neither. I'm a 74 year old disabled pensioner. If I produced a baby at my age, I would be worth a fortune! The buggy was for me, to enable me to have a little independence when shopping. The design made it fairly manoeverable, and lightweight for dismantling and putting in the car (which is also old). We had seen lots of information about the buggy and read several recommendations. For what we seek from a very simple life, we were prepared to budget to buy it. What we weren't prepared for was that import tax. We would be now! If the only response I get on here is from Walkage types, it may be better if I withdrew my membership. It would be a pity, I've had much information from some of you in the past.

It would be a shame if you took umbrage, DD, especially at Walkage (as this was a classic response from him)!

However, even we were confused by your post. The word 'buggy' is somewhat ambiguous and it's not surprising that none of us understood what you meant by the term. But don't take offence - most of us write or speak as though the other person knows what we're talking about! Wink

DD, I must admit I also wasn't sure what you meant by buggy but Walkage is the master at jumping to conclusions, just look at some of his posts with MW. Wink
As Mod said, a classic response from him.
For what it's worth, I think it would be a shame if you left the forum just because someone jumped to conclusions but in his defence, I have met Walkage and he seems quite different to how he appears on here so please take time to think about it.

Well, at least DD got an apology of an kind. Rolling Eyes

Right, just to pish Walkage off, I'm going on-line to find the Rolls Royce of BUGGIES with extra wide wheels, turbo charger, in ''Buggie'' entertainment, aircon and self emptying ashtrays. If it cost LESS than £10k then, I shall not be happy. Laughing

Ms. Dumpling, did the make of your Buggie match that to what Seedy suggested on the previous page? If so, could you not possibly get the spare parts you need from the UK Distributor?

If you need any help, please do not hesitate to ask as I am not bad at tracking stuff down via the Internet and it is a shame that your mobility chair is gathering dust when you could be tearing down the Highways of your village with Steppenwolf's Born to Be Wild blasting out. Wink Just a bit chilly at the moment to expose your Hell's Angels tattoos. Rolling Eyes

Cheer up, Walkage usually selects mouth before engaging brain, but he doesn't mean any harm, but he is a frustrating git at times. Razz

DD mentioned "Moving Life" and Israel in her post, Mr Wolf, so I think you can probably work on the basis that this is indeed the kit in question... Wink

DD do you want me to ask at my local disabled shop (repairs also) and see if they can get the part in. I can then bring it down with me in May? Or order it to be sent to me and I will bring it from there tucked in among all the other equipment?

I've just seen the advert, that is a really neat piece of kit.

Legally in the UK, a company cannot refuse to sell you the parts. So if you can identify whats needed I can get the parts for you. There are sellers in the UK so they should have parts ordering.

Thank you all, well nearly all, for your kind input. The silly part is that I didn't mean to make a big issue of the item, but the fact that I should have looked into stuff like import duties, and to warn folks about what can happen. However, I'm now pleased that I did mention the buggy, because it really is a great piece of technicality and the possibility of getting the part from UK. was helpful. Time was, we used to be able to fix things ourselves, but now we lack the strength and mobility to do those things, so if we do manage to get the part over here without the tax, we would probably need someone to do it. Should I risk mentioning it on here again???

DD - Okay apologies aside etc etc...but what I see is important is to get your scooter/buggy going..Now MW offered to check for what ever parts you needed and TD said she could bring them over in May - no customs. Exclamation
Now some of us - including me - are quite capable of fitting any parts (basic DIY) and to make up for my - off moment' - I can arrange Go-Faster stripes in any colour you wish Wink Very Happy
Soooo please yell out loud what part you need so you can get mobile for the spring... Smile
