Seriously? Shocked

Many Brits struggle with English and have trouble understanding their fellow-countrymen from other regions; when it comes to massacring foreign languages they're definitely up on the winners' podium.... Wink

You mean John Tomas. Rolling Eyes

Cyrillic usually has only one letter to make the sound of two or more Latin letters combined, but I'll let the linguists answer the OP's question as I'm just a thicko from Wolverhampton. Wink

I'd have never guessed you were a yam yam man Smile !

Something that was NOT in any book, but that i learned while kissing my Bulgarian teacher to feel the exact pronounciation, is that, for speaking Bulgarian, the tongue is much lower than in languages like Dutch, Glemish, English and German. French goes more to it but once you know your tongue has to be low and flatter, the ‘l’ and the ‘r’ and the ‘a’ sound much more Bulgarian. It changes even the s, the f, k, g and other consonants! People who learned about arab and Hebrew will probably understand this better.

And in Pernik, they go even much lower where the l becomes even a ‘w’ which is normally not
in the Bulgarian alfabet ‘swatko’ instead of ‘sladko’ (sweet) and ‘swadolet’ if you want an icecream.

i feel more in this topic to pronounce ‘тъ’ or, like Russians often do, change the vowel a little vit AFTER the ‘t’ to prolong it. Then it sounds more English, at least to my opinion. But they still will hear you have respect for the Bulgarian language. English is a language, spoken by lots of people, but really very difficult on a higher level. i am bad at English myself, but we read the Poem “Chaos” from the Dutch professor in English to know how difficult English is and to learn to Cyrillic is the best alphabet there is! +je
