Some of this was implemented years ago. A lot of this is badly spelt bullshit by the Brexiteers.....

Having just read up on the Lisbon Treaty, this post is in reality fake news. Powers for the European Community were fully adopted in 2009 and amended in 2014 and 17. It's just Brexiteer scaremongering.

Being a non-Brit, have no idea on whether Brexit is a good idea for Britain or not. I used to prefer -and still do- the British presence within the EU as a much needed counterbalance for the increasing German influences, which do not seem to be constructive from the perspective of rest of us in the block. On the other hand currently Brexit seems to turn into such a mess that far from any scare mongering, it looks a political nightmare from any standpoint. Poor Thereza, though still have no mercy for politicians wherever they come from.

Again am neither for nor against Brexit, but I fail to understand how this could evolve as the end of the world to our British friends. This is really getting childish.

As usual, Mr S - the Greeks had an explanation Wink

Allow me to quote a little from Book VI of Plato's Republic, aka the origin of the English phrase and concept of a Ship of Fools - do excuse the slightly rough and ready translation:

"Imagine the captain of a ship - a little taller and stronger than the rest of the crew, but also a little hard of hearing, somewhat short-sighted, and more than a bit ignorant of the seaman’s art. The sailors all want to steer, although they don't know how to and indeed despite them having a suspicion that it's something that can't be learned at all, at least not by them.

If they fail to persuade the captain to let them try to steer but other crewmen do manage to talk him into letting them have a go at it, they either kill those others or throw them overboard. If they still aren't allowed to take the wheel, they eventually drug the captain’s drink, tie him up and take over the ship.

Anyone who joins in the mutiny is called "a good pilot" and "a skilled sailor", despite them having no navigational knowledge or skill. They have no conception that the true seaman must observe the weather, the seasons, the winds and the stars in order to navigate a ship in a stormy sea, and he must also be a real captain who takes full control of the ship - whether the crew like it or not."

A man was arrested after he shouted out that Theresa May should be pensioned off as she has no control over her own party, let alone the country or Brexit talks.

He has been fined 50 quid for breach of the peace, and sent down for 10 years for breaking section 1 of the official secrets act.

Why in God's name is there no-one in the UK "government" with any balls? Evil or Very Mad

We keep being asked to believe that 17.5 million votes was "the will of the people" when there were another roughly 30 million voters who didn't support Brexit, either by voting against or by abstaining (a polite way of saying "being too bl**dy lazy/complacent to get off their fat butts and take part in a momentous democratic decision").

Now, however, a second referendum is somehow "unacceptable and anti-democratic". Logic would suggest that if Brexit really IS as popular a decision as we're supposed to believe then the result would be another victory for the "Out" supporters, so just what are they scared of? This is a course of action which is probably going to affect the UK and its people for generations, and those comparing it with re-running a General Election because the result was "wrong" are either disingenuous or plain stupid, in my non-too-humble view.

No-one in Parliament has the guts to get up and remind the country that the referendum was non-binding and that Camoron's correct course of action when he "lost" that vote was not to resign but to call a general election and to make a second, binding, referendum a central manifesto pledge.

The current Headless Chicken Farce is just making a once-great country look more ridiculous with every day that passes..... Embarassed

S1 update -
The S1 might not be valid in the event of ' no deal', however you can continue to apply for an S1 up to the time of a 'no-deal' decision, but you should now apply to the Business Services Authority on 0044 191 218 1999

Additional healthcare information for residents -
The UK government has made an offer to EU member states to maintain existing healthcare arrangements until December 31st 2020 whether there is a deal or not, hopefully this offer will be accepted, meanwhile the government has adopted an approach which they hope will minimise disruption to healthcare provision for UK nationals currently in the EU.

Among the various points I think two are particularly worth mentioning here -
UK nationals can use NHS services if they return to live in the UK, and
those who are resident in the EU on exit day,and have their healthcare funded by the UK, can use NHS services in England without charge when on a temporary visit to the UK.

There is country-specific guidance on Gov.UK and NHS.UK
