Thanks, Chris - unfortunately, and as usual, it's really "helpful" (note the sarcasm here Wink )

The last "updated" version (dated today, 30 January 2019, for those looking at this post in the future) tells us that "You will need to provide documentation proving that...you hold personal health insurance or a UK social security form, such as an S1 form for pensioners."

However, a "No-deal Technical Notice" - yeah they exist, but HMG doesn't like you to know about them, so keeps shtum when they come out - and issued two days ago (28 January 2019 for Time Travellers Wink ) gives you the glad tidings that:

Quote:
“An S1 certificate helps you and your dependents access healthcare in the EU/EEA country where you live. If you have an S1 certificate, it will be valid until 29 March 2019. After this date, the certificate may not be valid, depending on decisions by member states.*

So, no S1 means that it'd be time to find - and afford - your very own medical insurance cover, fellow Old Crocks....and good luck with that when you're over pensionable age!

*AKA "As usual, we have no idea what's happening, or going to happen, but let's keep the BS rolling to justify drawing our salaries...."

FROM TODAY'S NOVINITE -

The Bulgarian government has approved a plan on the possible scenarios of the UK leaving the EU, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform Ekaterina Zaharieva told reporters at Parliament, Focus News Agency reports.
"All member states are working towards a Brexit deal but we have to be ready for a no-deal option anyway. Today the Bulgarian government has approved a decision of the Council of Ministers as a two-part plan – one on applying a deal, and the other on a no-deal Brexit. The aim is to minimise as much as we can the negative consequences in all spheres,” Minister Zaharieva said. “Regarding EU citizens and Bulgarian citizens, the UK government has promised that those living in the UK by 29 March will retain their rights. Today, the Bulgarian government has committed to allowing UK citizens, about 7,000 people, living in Bulgaria to live and feel good here by a really easy and simple registration procedure,” Minister Zaharieva explained.

So UK citizens can "register easily" - for those who haven't bothered to so thus far, presumably - but I wonder what "retain their rights" means? Free medical treatment if HMG/NHS won't cough up? Retaining the cost of living increase in UK state pensions? Maintaining the Winter Fuel Payment? Allowing UK citizens resident overseas to use the NHS legally?

It all sounds nice but what on earth does it actually MEAN? Cool

I am a bit surprised to see the number quoted as 7,000. I would have expected it to have been higher.

Mr P - that's because many people "forget" to register their change of residence so they can illegally use the NHS whenever the fancy takes them, as well as driving with invalid UK licences etc... Evil or Very Mad
